Built in Mogadishu,
for Mogadishu

We're a small Somali team who got tired of watching good businesses run on paper notebooks because the software world forgot we existed.

Our story

It started with
a notebook

A salon owner in Hodan kept her whole business in a school exercise book. Names, times, who owed what. When a customer didn't show up, she lost the slot and the money — and there was nothing she could do about it.

We tried to help her get set up on one of the big international booking tools. It asked for a Visa card. She doesn't have one. Almost nobody here does. She has EVC Plus, like everyone else, and it works perfectly well — it just isn't the kind of money that global software knows how to accept.

The problem was never that Somali businesses couldn't pay. It's that nobody built anything they could pay with.

So we built it. Raasuum collects subscriptions, deposits, orders, and memberships through EVC Plus, Zaad, Sahal, and eDahab — the rails that already move money in this country. No bank. No card. No address verification.

Then we noticed the salon owner's cousin ran a restaurant, and her brother a pharmacy, and they all had the same problem in a different shape. So Raasuum became four apps instead of one, sharing the same wallet and the same login. One platform, for however your family makes a living.

What we believe

Three things we
won't compromise on

Money the local way

If it doesn't work with EVC Plus at a market stall with patchy signal, it doesn't ship. We design for the wallet in your customer's hand, not the card in someone else's.

Built for how business is actually done here

Suqaar is on the menu, prices are in dollars, and payment means EVC Plus or Zaad. We build around the way Somali businesses already work rather than bending them to fit software written elsewhere.

Where we've been

The road so far

2025 · Q1

A booking app for one salon

We built the first version of Appointments for a single salon in Hodan District, and integrated EVC Plus because there was no other way to take a deposit.

2025 · Q3

Zaad, Sahal, eDahab

Twelve businesses had joined by word of mouth, and half of them were in Hargeisa on Telesom. So we built the payment adapter properly — every wallet, one interface.

2026 · Q1

Too many apps, then the right four

We built six modules before admitting that two of them were somebody else's product. What kept earning its place was the work Somali business owners actually repeat every day: selling, stock, rent, and getting paid.

2026 · Today

Four modules, one system

Shop, pharmacy, rental property and restaurant — sharing one customer list, one money ledger and one team, so an owner running two of them is still running one business.
